چکیده
The oriental spiny, climbing species of palms are referred to as ‘rattans’ and often are regarded as ‘green gold’ for their unique characteristics including strength, durability and flexibility. Rattans supply a basic raw material for the cane industry and are well known for their medicinal and traditional uses in basketry and bridge making. There is extensive global demand for both raw and processed canes worldwide, more than 700 million people reportedly trade or use rattan [1]. The long-term survival and evolution of every species depends on the available diversity in its present habitat. Therefore, an understanding of the current diversity status of forest genetic resources is a prime step for developing efficient forest conservation programme and breeding strategies to cope up with the current scenario [2]. The genetic diversity is a fundamental component of biodiversity and is closely related to geographic distribution of genotypes that constitutes subspecies, races or ecotypes. The DNA based diversity detected by molecular markers is usually defined as ‘‘genetic variation’’ to differentiate it from the phenotypic variation evolved due to the adaptive potential of populations. The advent of molecular marker techniques, bioinformatics and the use of geographical information system (GIS) could help to develop better methods to survey, sample and assess the genetic diversity [3]. Molecular markers such as restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs), random amplified polymorphic DNAs (RAPDs), Inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR), amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), single sequence repeats (SSR) and single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) are widely applied to reveal genetic diversity, establish varietal or species identification and to understand phylogenetic relationships and genetic mapping.

Genetic Diversity of Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Genotypes Using RAPD and ISSR Molecular Markers
The importance of grain cultivation especially wheat is obvious in terms of providing human and animal food and its impact on the economy of human societies. The reduction of genetic diversity in cultivars prevents increasing yields in line with rising demand and consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the compatibility of them and increase their genetic extent. In the current, the g...

The wild mint "Mentha longifolia (L.) Hudson subsp. noeana (Briq.) Briq." is an important medicinal plant which contains several worthy components like: menthone, pulegone, pipertenon, menthol, thymol, and carvone in its essential oil. This plant grows extensively in center of Asia including Iran. Because of so worthy components and its big role in traditional and modern medicine, the wild mint...
متن کاملEvaluation of Genetic Diversity among Some Common Fig Using RAPD and ISSR Molecular Markers
The common fig (Ficus carica L.), one of the most important fruit species, belongs to Moraceae family and is widely distributed in Iran. In this study, genetic variations among some genotypes of common fig collected from six different regions of Ilam province (Iran) were evaluated based on RAPD and ISSR markers. A total of 73 and 29 alleles were produced by 14 RAPD (with their sizes ranging fro...
متن کاملGenetic Diversity Evaluation of Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) Ecotypes Using Morphological Traits and Molecular Markers
Genetic diversity of 12 lemon balm ecotypes was evaluated using agronomic traits as well as ISSR and RAPD markers. Results of analysis of variance showed high diversity among the studied ecotypes. Cluster analysis using UPGMA method grouped the ecotypes into three different groups based on the agronomic traits. Twelve ISSR primers created 106 polymorphic bands among the studied ecotypes. An ISS...
متن کاملA comparative analysis of ISSR and RAPD markers for studying genetic diversity in Iranian pistachio cultivars
Pistachio is one of the most important horticultural products of Iran. The best way to get the maximum yield is to have genetically pure and monotonous gardens. Thereby, study of genetic variation and providing genetic identifications, make this possible to have homogenous gardens with high performance genotypes. In the present study, genetic diversity of 19 Iranian pistachio cultivars was asse...
